Passenger Terminal is the world's leading trade fair for the airport sector. This is an annual meeting, which last took place from 20 to 22 March in Stockholm, Sweden. The event brought together more than 7,300 visitors in an area spanning 17,000m2 and approximately 300 companies from more than 100 countries participated.
As a part of the fair's conference programme, Nikolaos Papagiannopoulos (the Athens International Airport) and Juan Francisco García López (INDRA), made a presentation on the innovation project TransformingTransport with a particular reference to the Pilot project on Smart Airport Turnaround. The Pilot is oriented towards predicting and understanding passenger behaviour, using Big Data and Business Analytics technology, with the aim of creating behaviour models that allow for the optimisation of airport resources required to provide service and, with this, reduce costs for the operator and improve the passenger experience.
Moreover, the system developed in the Pilot was showcased in the booth of INDRA visited by more than 20 airport operators.
